So that sucked

I'm finally starting to recuperate after being sick for the last two weeks. It started when the weather got nicer. My sinuses acted up, naturally, because of all the chilly rain we were getting. Then the coughing started and before I knew it I had a chest full of toxic green goo. I couldn't take two breaths without hacking some gross glob up out of my lungs. The fever kicked last Saturday and finally broke Tuesday night but then came back the next evening. When I woke up Thursday my chest was a lot clearer but then as the day went on my sinuses quit draining and pretty much solidified into a nasty infection. I went to a local clinic that evening and got some antibiotics and nose spray (the one sold by Antonio Beederis) and I'm finally feeling better today. Still a bit snuffly and with an occasional cough but definitely on the cured side of the line.

And while all that was going on I had to herd cats every day with this damn gov't job. If I had been given an assistant like all the other crew leaders I maybe could have taken a couple of days off and got better faster. I did manage a couple of half days earlier in the week and that helped some. But still, my crew was drastically under-staffed and I just wasn't able to do much filed work to help pick up the slack. It was so damn cool and rainy, and I could barely speak for coughing so field work just wasn't an option for me. I finally did get a few volunteers come over from other districts and lend a hand. At any rate, we got the the first phase done despite having the deadline moved up by two weeks. I think we should be able to vote bureaucrats out of office, too.

When I wasn't out driving all over the country side I was curled up in front of the fireplace with a book. I went all zombie, 'cause I felt like death warmed over, and got World War Z, Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks, and the 2nd volume of The Walking Dead. So technically, only the first one is a book book but still, I was doing reading with glasses and a cup of warm tea and all that. I didn't even feel like turning the lappy on until this evening. I'm sure I've missed some remarkably cool and frivolous video clip and now I'm hopelessly out of touch with the rest of the internet, but whatever. I pretty much just use it for porn anyways.
